Silicon Controlled Rectifiers & Thyristors

Silicon controlled rectifier - As the name implies this diode can be controlled or triggered to the ON condition due to the application of small voltage. They belong to the family of Thyristors and is used in various fields of DC motor control, generator field regulation, lighting system control and variable frequency drive . This is three terminal device with anode, cathode and third controlled lead or gate. A thyristor is a solid-state semiconductor device with four layers of alternating N and P-type material. They act as bi-stable switches, conducting when their gate receives a current pulse, and continue to conduct while they are forward biased (that is, while the voltage across the device is not reversed).

Round/ Capsule Thyristor The compact module of these Capsule/Round Thyristors, generate very less noise while switching operation and are always ready for connection. We have a wide range of SCR's/Thyristors which are available in current carrying capacity of 25amps to 400 ampere and are offered to our clients at competitive prices. We stock and make available: Hind-Rectifier (Hirect) , Ruttonsha, Semikron, Eupec, Toshiba, Usha Rectifiers, West code and many more..

Phase Controlled Thyristor Capsule

Phase control thyristor (capsule version) Features: Ceramic disc type seal, Middle trigger, Bifacial cooled, High current.

Phase Controlled Thyristors Stud type & Flat Base

Thyristors are typically used as phase-controlled current valves for AC to DC conversion and vice versa, operating at low frequencies (most often around AC line frequency). In the conducting state, thyristors feature very low losses, making them attractive devices to efficiently control very high currents and energies.Makes Available: Vishay, Ruttonsha, Hirect - Hind Rectifiers, Westcode- IXYS, IR, IRI, ABB, Eupec/Infineon T86 to T345, AEG, Powerex.

Bi Directionally Controlled Thyristors

Thyristors are typically used as phase-controlled current valves for AC to DC conversion and vice versa, operating at low frequencies (most often around AC line frequency). In the conducting state, thyristors feature very low losses, making them attractive devices to efficiently control very high currents and energies. ABB- 5STB series.

Reverse Conducting Thyristor Capsule (RCT)

The reverse conducting thyristor (RCT) is differentiating itself from the normal high power thyristor by having an integrated reverse diode. Because of the reverse diode this thyristor is not capable of reverse blocking. These devices are advantageous where a reverse or freewheel diode must be used. Because the SCR and diode never conduct at the same time they do not produce heat simultaneously and can easily be integrated and cooled together. Reverse conducting thyristors are often used in frequency changers and inverters.

Gate Turn Off Thyrsitor (GTO)

A gate turn-off thyristor (GTO) is a special type of thyristor, which is a high-power semiconductor device.GTOs, as opposed to normal thyristors, are fully controllable switches which can be turned on and off by their third lead, the GATE lead. The GTO can be turned-on by a gate signal, and can also be turned-off by a gate signal of negative polarity. GTOs (Gate Turn-off Thyristors) are optimized for low conduction losses. The typical on-off switching frequency is in the range of 200 - 500 hertz for most applications. GTOs are, by nature, relatively slow switches. Typical transition times from on to off state and vice versa are in a range of 10 - 30 microseconds. All GTOs require protective networks called "snubbers" for turn-on and turn-off. The turn-on snubber circuit, in essence an inductor, limits the rate of current rise. For turn-off, the GTO requires a device that limits the rate of voltage rise, in essence a capacitor.

Fast Turn-Off (Inverter Grade) Thyristor Stud & Flat Base

For applications with frequencies higher than the domestic AC mains supply (e.g. 50 Hz or 60 Hz), thyristors with lower values of tq are required. Fast Thyristors have optimized turn-off parameters and are designed for general power switching applications. Also formerly known as Inverter Grade Thyristors.

SCR Module

The thyristor module turns on by applying a pulse current to a gate current. However, because it is a latch type semiconductor, the thyristor only turns on when a sustained current (holding current) reaches a set level. We stock Thyristor/ SCR Modules utilized for industrial purposes. Semikron, Fuji Electrical, Mitsubishi, Eupec, Sanrex, IXYS, Crydom etc.
